He graduated from Richard Arnold High School before serving in the United States Army.  In 1951, after returning home from Japan, he met and married the love of his life, Peggy Carolan Johnson.  After returning to Savannah he attended Armstrong College.

He worked for the Amoco Oil Refinery for many years before being promoted to Sales Manager calling on jobbers throughout Georgia.  He retired in 1989.

Warren was an avid fisherman, a collector of old bottles, and an avid Goodwill shopper. He loved to travel and attended every Masters Golf Tournament since 1964.  He was a member of the Savannah Quarterback Club and served on the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee for several years.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Johnson; two daughters, Patricia Ann Woodward (John) and Nancy J. Keaton (Johnny); his sister, Leona Graddick; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two children, Warren V. Johnson, Jr. and Jeanenne Marx.

GUEST BOOK

I just found out about Warren's passing. I am so sad and I know He and Charley are having a good together again. Charley loved him like a brother. I am praying for the family....please give Peggy my love. Cheryl

Our prayers go out to the Johnson Family. Warren was a great friend and I have so many fond memories of him. When he was transferred from the Refinery to the Sales Force in the mid 1960's I was in Savannah with the Regional Marketing Manager when he was interviewed for his transfer to the Sales Force and had the privilege of working with him after he finished his Sales Training Course. Warren had many friends throughout the Company and he will be missed by all who knew him.

I was very sorry to hear of the passing of my good friend Warren Johnson. We worked together for many years--three memories: 1. Catching speckled trout with him and Ed Henderson cleaning the whole fish. I introduced them to filleting them and how they thought how wasteful that was; however, it caught on with them. 2. While cleaning fish at Tybee Island and getting eaten up by sand fleas ("no-see-ums"). 3. Warren's first name basis with bank tellers all over his area, getting them to save him Silver Coins. I thought him to be "nuts". Turns out he was pretty darn smart. Could go on about many other good times, but will just say, "Warren we will miss you."

I'm very sorry for your loss. Mr. J was one of those folks I wish I had gotten to know better. Though I only knew him a short time he was one of my favorite people. He was always cheerful and that's what I will always remember. And a real "pistol". My condolences.

- Jimbo Clanton, Cordele, GA

I am so sorry to hear about Warren. He sure enjoyed life and always had a good time! My prayer is that your Faith and wonderful memories will comfort and sustain you forever.

- Jan Daniel Crawford, Va. Beach, Va.

My day was always made brighter when the two of you arrived at my desk for brief conversation and a bit of joking! Wishing the Johnson family peace and lovely remembrances.

- Margaret Morgan, Savannah, GA

Molly and I send our condolences. Warren was truly a man who was larger than life. The stories are too numerous to tell, but my favorite was when he took the Amoco Vice President to a huge house and had him believing the house was his. Only Warren could have pulled off that joke.

- Wes Cottingham, Jonesboro, GA
